Roskinski\, P.E. – Project Manager\, CDR Maguire Engineering \nSteven J. Hrvoich\, P.E. – Construction Engineering Manager\, PA Turnpike Commission \nThe Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s Southern Beltway is a 13-mile expansion project connecting the Pittsburgh International Airport at US Route 22 to Interstate 79\, west of Pittsburgh. This $800M construction project includes 5 new interchanges\, 8 pairs of mainline bridges\, 2 pairs of I-79 bridges\, 7 local bridges\, several culverts\, and 2 cashless tolling facilities. Work was completed through 16 individual construction contracts procured by the design bid build process. The new limited access four lane highway opened in October 2021\, while construction continues through June 2022. SUMMARY:ASHE Pittsburgh “Adopt-A-Highway” Program: 2019 Spring Outing
DESCRIPTION:The Adopt-A-Highway concept began with an effort in the 1980s to rally volunteers to keep our highway’s clear of trash.  It has since grown into a charitable act of volunteering across the Country with Adopt-A Highway programs now present in every state. \n  \nThe ASHE Pittsburgh Section receives name recognition for our efforts\, in keeping this portion of the highway clean\, in the form of very own “Adopt A Highway” sign.
